I have some sort of fixation to translate music visually, symbolically into solid form. "Aria" is one such sculpture, capturing in part the body of a solo artist with the soaring notes of a powerful vocal as it
is presented. Music has a rhythm and a flow, an almost liquid type of presence which is invisible unless it is translated mathematically in a digital representation. The resulting image is a cryptic visual
abstract to the nature of the actual music. In the end, graphically it represents the music quite accurately, but viewing the image cannot render the tune identifiably to the viewer. I seek to do the
same with my "musical" sculpture without the math; but rather work to secure and elucidate on a more emotional level the essence of the music.
