Escape is an emotional package.  Beginning with the crouching position of the figure within, I layered swirling shapes and contours of form remotely resembling the folds of a robe encompassing the figure.  The result is a tumultuous feeling resembling that of a storm cloud or smoke from a fire.  This is still further enhanced by the craggy texture from cracks  in the wood coupled with the scouring of the surfaces as can be seen in the close up below.
