This is a coarse textured piece courtesy of the chainsaw used in the making of it.  The decision to go with a rough sawn texture was made in part, to compliment the coarse contrast exhibited in the grain of this wood variety. The piece began as a bust and then opened to the space within to symbolically encapsulate the out pouring of memories further reinforced by the downcast position of the head. .
