Tiltmont is carved from a single piece wood, except for the horns of the dragon, which have been added to allow for greater structural strength. The wood is unknown to me. It most closely resembles Yellow Birch.
It stands 41 inches tall and 27 inches wide. The concept for this piece had existed in my mind for more than four years before finally coming to fruition when I stumbled upon this perfect piece of wood in Rhinebeck, NY in 2000. Though starting the piece that year it was not finished until February of 2002 after an estimated 250 hours. To date (2010), it has only appeared in two of my many art shows I have done. This is due to the difficulty in packing such a large delicate piece so that will not break in transit. Packing and unpacking is just too time consuming. It has been colored using two different colors of stain. Must be professionally packaged if shipped.
